Beautiful Day!

It's finally here!!! No, not Christmas or my birthday...the Rainy Day! The very rare day here in this desert that I live for! It's not quite the beautiful lightly falling snow that I always miss especially at this time of year, but there were plenty of clouds...not a glimpse of the sun all day!, a little bite in the air (a nice, cool 50 degrees), and some actual RAIN! Woo Hoo!
The kids were excited (not to mention shocked!) to see the rain too. Kolt was so happy to actually have to wear his bright yellow jacket and put the hood up this morning. Then after picking the kids up from school, who had been itching to play in the rain all day long since they are not allowed to play outside at school when it is raining, everyone headed outside to get all wet and muddy and splash in the puddles in the back yard. Kolt got soaked from head to toe and was EXTREMELY happy about it.

Blaze and Andrieu, who were apparently feeling a little more rambunctious with the onset of the rain, were caught in the act of some neighborhood mischief as I was trying to take a picture of Kolt putting his hand out in the rain. This shopping cart was left in our neighborhood and apparently it has become a favorite "toy" of the neighborhood kids (since the shopping cart pick up truck hasn't picked it up yet or it's "user" has not decided to use it again). Blaze was warned not to play with it, but I guess the "fun" of it was a much more powerful lure than my "threats" of punishment or warnings of the dangers, which I suppose when given while trying my best not to laugh do not hold too much weight. I realize that as I take pictures of my kids acting naughty (and thinking it's actually kind of funny) that I'm really finding myself stuck on the fence between "Mommy Land" and "Kid Land" and my Inner Child sneaks out from behind my Better Judgment for just a moment, which I suppose is okay from time to time. The scary thing is that the kids (especially Blaze) are so good at spotting those moments and taking full advantage to have a little extra "fun" that they probably wouldn't have when I'm back home in "Mommy Land" and nowhere near the fence!

I love the rain too, except when the power goes out, but the rain does smell so good. They look like they had a blast in the shopping cart!

How cute and creative are your kids!? I love the rain!! That was such a nice treat, and to boot they didn't even call a state of emergency in the desert.:) Good Times.
