Well, today has been one of those days when I realize I'm Raising BOYS! It was one of those marathon days when I have a hundred things to do, the first of which was to go to the post office and pick up what ended up being the highlight of my day. It was a pair of jeans for Jett, but not just any pair of jeans. They are a pair of Wrangler Cowboy Cuts...just like the ones his dad wears...only miniature size that I found on ebay!
I am absolutely in love with how cute he looks in these jeans! Next, we're off to the shoe store to exchange Kolt's shoes which have started to come apart at the toe. So I tell the lady that I'm not happy with the way these shoes are wearing and she asks me if he rides his bike or scooter, or swings or climbs? What does she think!? Of course he does, but in my opinion, no matter what he does, $35 shoes should NOT come apart at the toe after a month and a half! So, we get the new shoes and then headed to Target to go last minute costume shopping for Blaze and Kolt, which of course, was fruitless. Usually, Blaze is very decisive about things, but this year he just will not commit to anything, so we are down to the wire and nothing for Blaze but an orange T-shirt with "This is my Costume" stenciled on the front! For Kolt, I'm on a quest for Scooby since Jett is Shaggy, so this must be the first year ever when there hasn't been about 10 Scooby costumes left in the store 4 days before Halloween! So we were left with dog costumes and adult sized costumes.
So we put the costume hunt on hold and went grocery shopping for jumbo sized everything at Costco...at which time, we have to get one of every sample, Blaze teases his sister incessantly, and Jett has to "touch" Kolt every 5 minutes and make him scream! Then off to Walmart for the rest of the groceries and another stab at costumes. Nothing left at Walmart either, except about a thousand dragon costumes....Scooby seems to be missing, much like Jett when we went to check out! He has this extremely bad habit of sneaking off! So Sierra, Blaze, and I go into a panic looking for him, when up he comes behind me..."Look at this movie mom!" GGGRRRRR! Sierra and I were ready to strangle him and all the old people near the check out are just smiling to themselves and winking at me!! So we decided to try the specialty Halloween store for costumes, where Kolt started screaming the minute we walked through the door, and still no Scooby, but on the bright side, Blaze made a decision about a costume. He decided he wants to be a pirate, but the line to pay was about 100 feet long and the kids were uncomfortable in the store so we decided to leave without the costume (now I get to go back on Monday and hope it is still there!). One more last ditch effort at finding the Scooby costume at Walgreens results in Success..."Scooby Dooby Doo, Here are you!!" Yay, we get to come home happy!
Back at home, Blaze and I are unloading and putting away groceries when suddenly I hear chaos from the back yard: Sierra (shrieks): "What are you doing?" Kolt (turning around, pulling up his pants) responds: "There was a hundred ants!" Last night, Kolt and Jett decided they wanted to have a little snack of popcorn outside on the patio. Of course, about half of the popcorn got spilled and didn't get picked up. So today, when they went out there was "a hundred ants" crawling around where the popcorn spilled. And what was Kolt's solution to "a hundred ants"....well, to pee on them of course!!
With that visual in mind, we are on to making dinner and while I'm cooking, in walks Blaze completely dripping wet! It seems he had a bit of a tiff with his friend across the street which resulted in them pushing each other into the pool! So now I've got a puddle of (thankfully) water in the middle of the kitchen while I'm trying to cook.
So....Blaze cleans up after himself....lasagna is in the oven...kitchen is clean....livingroom is vacuumed....time to relax?...uh oh, the lasagna is a little over cooked, to which Blaze responds "That's okay, it's better a little crispy!" and, as I'm getting ready to serve dinner, my wonderful little Kolt lets me know..."Hey Mom, you have armpits!"
Yep...I'm definitely Raising BOYS!

Ok, so maybe I am glad that I made my costumes this year, because what you are going through actually sounds more stressful then what I went through.
