There he goes off to work, and he's only 3!
Kolt got to go to work with Daddy today. He was so excited. He got his little Toy Story backpack all packed up with toys and snacks and put on his "work clothes" i.e., his hat, and got his jacket with a hood "In case it might rain, my hair can't get wet." Just me telling him that he got to go to work with Daddy today produced a huge smile, dimples and all, but then Jett tipped him off that..."When you go to work with Daddy, he always takes you to McDonald's" (whispered in his ear) and he was up, running, and ready to go! Mike said they barely got to the Jefferson/111 intersection before Kolt piped up, "Can we go to McDonald's?" (for those of you out of state, that's only about a mile). So I took the kids to school (as usual...nothing new there) and today was "Crazy Sock Day" to remind us to "Sock it to Drugs." This week is Red Ribbon Week, usually pronounced "Wed Wibbon Week" at our house, at school and they spend the entire week dressing silly and learning about saying no to drugs. They are so funny. Blaze thought that he would just wear one black baseball sock and a regular sock and that would be "crazy." I told him he had no clue what "crazy" was and that I would give him a dollar if he would wear one of Sierra's hot pink "frog catching flies toe socks." He eventually negotiated a pack of football cards for the wearing of the pink sock! So here he is earning his football cards....Jett is not quite such a chicken as Blaze and decided to wear the other one!
Jett and I got to go on a field trip today to the McCallum Theater...OK, so this is one thing I would miss about the desert! The McCallum is really a great organization and they put on REALLY great field trips all the time for our kids. I usually try to go every time the kids go. This time we got to see a jazz band from New York City. They were so awesome and their performance was so neat. They played their music, but there was also a "teacher" of sorts who told about the band and how a band working together relates to a community working together and then he got the audience involved by teaching us some "ba da da's" and "la la la's", so we all got to sing with the band! I wish Blaze could have been there to see it, he would have absolutely LOVED it! He plays the piano and is in love with the drums and they had both an awesome piano player and a great drummer, too.
After the field trip, I called Mike to meet up and pick up Kolt. So we met at McDonald's of course to have some lunch. After our lunch, we got in the truck to come home and on our way we had to come down Madison Street, which brings us by "The Barn." "The Barn" is where Kolt gets his beloved strawberries when it is open and EVERY time we pass by it, he looks and says "Oh man, the barn is closed." And then when it's open, unless there are strawberries at home already, we must stop and buy some...(Sadly, I've been caught there more than one Sunday on the way home from church...tsk, tsk...hey, we're just enjoying the Lord's bountiful crop of delicious, sweet, red strawberries...right?)

How cute is Colt! I bet he felt like such a big boy going to work with his dad.
Thankyou, now I am salivating for fresh strawberries.
i heart the McCullum Theater, too.
