Jett's birthday this year was spent in Utah and will be a memorable one. Since we were in Utah and it was his 8th birthday, we thought it would be a neat experience to go to Temple Square.
What an awesome place. We had such a fun time taking pictures around the Salt Lake Temple and all the beautiful places there. It was fun to see all the beautiful brides at each doorway and at some of the pretty spots around the grounds. I think we must have seen at least 10 brides in just the hour or so we were there! We also went inside the Tabernacle, which was so much smaller than it looks on TV! We were so amazed at the beauty and construction. It was also really neat because we were there for one of their sound checks. We stood at the back, near the exit, and they ripped a piece of paper and even dropped a pin and we could hear it clearly all the way to the back...all with no microphone!
We went to the Visitor's Center, which was so amazing. I loved the upstairs with the statue of Christ and listening to the message in that room. It was so awesome to be able to feel the spirit so strongly as I was walking up the ramp into the room, not even fully knowing yet what was there! The kids really enjoyed the downstairs portion of the Visitor's center too with all of the very lifelike scripture characters and stories. I think that was their favorite part.We also visited the Joseph Smith Building where Jett and Kolt posed with this statue of Joseph Smith and Blaze found a chair that suited him to a "T." Then we rode the elevator all the way to the top, where Sierra and Kelsey couldn't resist the luxurious velveteen settee, and the view of the Temple was breathtaking!
I think this is probably one of my favorite photos of the day, Blaze and Jett in front of the statue of the Restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood!
Next, we headed off to a bowling birthday party at Fat Cat's in Provo! We had so much fun there!
The kids, Mary and her husband Mike, and I had a great time bowling and eating the yummy food they have there! Kolt was the only one who liked his bowling shoes....he thought they matched his outfit very well and he would have worn them home if I had let him! Blaze beat us all at bowling. He did have a lane with bumpers, but his ball seldom touched them and he was throwing strikes right and left! I think I was the all time low scorer of the day...I don't think I broke 100 all day, but it was a really good time!
Then we headed back to Mary's for some play time for the kids (relaxing time for the adults!) and later the kids broke a pinata. Mary also made Jett a really cute giant cupcake birthday cake and it was delicious!
