The "All-Dayer"

Today was just one of many "all-dayers" that we will likely be spending at the baseball field this season.
We started out early, and the weather was so perfect for spending the day playing/watching baseball! Sierra had a scrimmage game against another team (11/12 yr olds), which her team lost, but she played so well. Despite striking out at her first at bat, she played second base and threw numerous runners out at first, and also got a runner out on second by catching a quick toss from shortstop. She also came back to redeem herself on her batting to hit a home run, as well as a triple (hitting in 2 runs!). The score ended up being 5-4, with three of those 4 being Sierra's home run and the 2 runs she batted in! YAY Sierra!

So after Sierra's game (11:20), we had to dash back home to get Blaze and Jett ready for their game and practices, feed everybody, and give me enough time to dash...and I do mean dash....over to Holly's Baby Scrap Party, which I only got to stay at for about 10 minutes (I do hate to eat and run...or do I??), because we had to leave again by 12 to take Sierra to her Odyssey group and get Blaze to the field in time for his game at 12:30. Whew!

Blaze also played really well in his scrimmage game. He pitched for 2 innings and did a great job, and he also played catcher for 2 innings and did great there too. He got on base with a couple of walks, and one really great double! He really is a very talented player and I love to watch him play. Although, it also makes me very nervous because, as the pitcher, there is SO MUCH pressure and I feel so helpless watching him knowing there is absolutely nothing I can do to help him out there all alone in the middle of that field! I always try really hard to "think" the ball into the strike zone for him, although he does pretty well at getting it there on his own....most of the time!

Following Blaze's scrimmage game, which they won by the way, was Jett's practice. He is just coming off of 2 days of a fever of 102 and sleeping on the couch all day Thursday and Friday. He was feeling much better today and went to practice, but I could tell he was still a little tired (distracted) and his energy level was not at it's normal strength. Even still, he got a few good hits in, and his team won the "base relay" race at the end of practice...he really is a great little runner! Hopefully by next weekend, he will be feeling more alert and ready to play ball.

While Jett was practicing, Kolt couldn't take it any longer and he had to get in on some action. Since Blaze was done with his game and practice, and apparently had not had enough baseball for one day, he got a ball and some extra mitts and played catch with me and Kolt. Then, we got Kolt a bat and Blaze started tossing balls to him to hit and he did awesome. He was really smacking that ball quite a ways! He'll definitely be ready for some TeeBall by next spring, but at the end of the day, he didn't even make it all the way home before the exhaustion of a long, fun day took him to sleepy land!

I can definitely see why you are tired. I love the pics of your kids on the magazine covers--especially little GQ; so cute!

OK, finally I figured out how to view your blog. Thanks for the tip. Clicking on the link on the side bar works! I feel like a slacker mom for Softball. Aubrey's coach lives down the street, so he takes her and his daughter to the practices, so I have only gone one time. I won't miss the games though!

I am with Jen. I am sorry I have not commented in a decade. I couldn't figure out how to actually view the posts. I had so much catching up to do once I got the hang of it. You crazy busy lady! It makes me tired just reading about your life.

    Love the new side bar!!
