La Vida Loca De Flores

This weekend we had a visitor from afar! My niece and great-nephew (wow, I can't believe I'm saying "great" in front of something already!) from Wyoming are here visiting her parents (Mike's brother Rick and his wife Cathie). So on Saturday Tallin got to come over and play with Kolt while his mom, aunt, and grandma went shopping at the mall. They had such a fun time watching Backyardigans and Dora, and playing outside in the dirt with the dump trucks in their bare feet and having a picnic outside on the patio with their peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, apples, chips, and Capri Suns. It was fun having a little friend over for Kolt to play with, but in my excitement of the two of them entertaining each other, I forgot that although Tallin is just a few months younger than Kolt, he is not potty trained yet! His mom, Trista, did send some Pull-Ups, but being a year or so out of potty training myself, diaper changing was so far from my mind that by the time it occurred to me to ask him if he needed to be changed....he needed to be CHANGED!!! Very soon into the job, I realized that this job was going to just be way too much for mere wipies! So Tallin had to take a bath on his first play date at Kolt's house. It's a good thing he is a really mellow kid, because it didn't bother him a bit to have virtual strangers stripping off his clothes and throwing him into the tub! After the bath, there was no more playing outside, just destruction of the bedroom. It has been due for a good cleaning for a while now, so I didn't mind too much, and all was well until Tallin, who is apparently really into Bob the Builder, decided he was going to "fix" everything...including Kolt's head! There were a few tears and a "he's mean" but both only lasted a few minutes and they were back to having fun again! We are hoping they will be able to have at least one more play day before Tallin has to go back to Wyoming and then the next time they see each other, they will be older, bigger, wiser...and hopefully both potty trained!!!
