Decorating the Tree

The kids and I had a great
time decorating our "Big Green" tree! All of our favorites are there... my Angel on top "Heralding" the arrival of our New Born King, the kids' "special" ornaments that they get to choose each year, my ribbons of burgundy and gold, and my personal favorites...the spray painted macaroni picture ornaments! I just love these. They all made them in first grade, and it always amazes me how much they have grown…even Jett who made his just last year! He already looks so much more grown up than his picture! There are several other homemade ornaments on our tree. One year, we decided to "glam up" some pine cones with glitter glue and gold ribbon. These have held up surprisingly well and we have used them for probably about 4 years now! Another one of my favorites is an angel that Blaze made out of a pop can last year. It is so cute, the opening of the pop can is the mouth and he painted a little face on it, complete with rosy cheeks. I am embarrassed to say that I used to be very obsessive (dare I use the word "anal") about my Christmas tree, insisting that every ornament be spaced in exact proportions and only gold or burgundy ornaments were allowed to go on "my" tree and I used to set up another small artificial tree for the kids to put "their" ornaments on. I don’t know what my problem was, but I finally woke up and "smelled the pine sap!" So now all of the ornaments are all on the "Big" tree. Although I will admit to anally moving an ornament or two (or three?) in order to adjust the symmetry of the decorations, I do love our tree so much more now that all of our ornaments and the love that goes into them are all on one tree, and it really is so much more beautiful! Even still, with as far as I've come on my tree issues, I am still standing my ground against the rainbow colored lights….I'm sticking to my "White Lights Only" policy when it comes to my tree….oops…I mean "OUR" tree!

I agree the collage is great! I love decorating the christmas tree, with my sister and I fighting over which ornaments we got to hang, but those times sure make me laugh now!
