Are you thinking of throwing a birthday party any time soon? Sometimes kids get sick of the same old party games, so I thought I would share a few new games we have come up with since moving back home to Wyoming...
PARTY GAME NUMBER 1: The Training Wheel Dirt Toss
Instructions:
1. You must be at least 10 years old to lead this game.
2. Take over your younger cousin's bicycle with training wheels and "low center" the wheel of the bike using the training wheels. 3. Talk your younger cousins and/or siblings into piling as much dirt as they can behind/under the back wheel of the bike. TIP: You must act very excited about this part in order to convince these young children into thinking that THIS is the most exciting part of the game in order to get the greatest level of participation.
4. Shout out a "warning" to all younger participants to move out of the way (with the actual hope that they don't) when you are going to begin pedaling.
5. Start pedaling like crazy in order to throw as much dirt as high as possible and get it on as many little kids as possible, while giggling histerically!
Winning the Game: You win the game by making as many little kids as possible think they are having fun by being covered head to toe in dirt, therefore having them rush over and repeat the process of piling the dirt behind the bike. PARTY GAME NUMBER 2: Guess What I'll Do with this Dirt?
This game pits young children against adults. Without warning, while out in the yard any young child may look right at any adult, thus drawing them involuntarily into the game, and pick up a handful of dirt.
Then, the adult has about a tenth of a second to guess what that child is going to do with the dirt before he does it and try to stop the action before it occurs.
A warning to adults...this is a game most often won by the child, with the loser of the game being the one to clean up after the game, while the winner runs away laughing!
PARTY GAME NUMBER 3: The Tricycle Push
This game is actually a spin-off of game number 1, with an older cousin/sibling convincing a younger one that their "turn" consists of pushing the older one around the yard, in order to not have to use their own energy to propel themselves about the yard.
PARTY GAME NUMBER 4: The "Hand"
This game is actually a classic, but I thought I would include it since it's a family favorite.
All that is needed is a hand and a person with a camera. The object of the game is to attempt to put your hand in front of your face while the person with the camera is attempting to take photos for posterity and the recording of precious family memories.
Some of our family members are quite good at this game, however, others make classic mistakes such as, in the heat of the moment, putting up the wrong hand, thus keeping the face in clear view.
There is also the "rookie" mistake of just not being fast enough to get the hand in front of the face in time...maybe with enough practice, he'll get it next time!

October 12, 2008 at 9:38 PMHey those sound like fun games. Some people in my family must have been to a few of your parties. My brother for example is ver very good at the hand game. There's also another one that you could play it involves a camera and a face, but not the one you'd most like to view for posterity. No, this face is the one you "pull" instead.
